Sunday Evening Post 1/17

These weeks are moving by so quickly! I am 17 days into the The List and I am making progress. I’d love to hear about the fun things you’re doing. DM me on Facebook, or leave comments below. It’s great when we can inspire each other.

Here’s an update to the weekly, monthly, or multiple items that didn’t appear on my blog yet.

#21, Try a new restaurant each week, 3/52

On Friday afternoon, I picked my son Joseph up from school and he was starving. He was game to go anywhere, so I decided to finally try Grandma Kim’s, a Korean diner I had heard good things about. We walked into a very modest little diner with red leather booths that have seen a LOT of bottoms.

IMG_5837Our server didn’t speak much English, so she couldn’t give us advice about what we might order. Luckily, a woman that was sitting in a booth near us, overheard our conversation and came over to lend a hand. She is a regular customer so we were glad for her input. I patted the seat next to me and she sat down.

“For you first time, ” she said, “You will need to try the L.A. Galbi and the BBQ Chicken… and definitely the potstickers. You will also get an assortment of vegetables, rice, potato soup, potato salad, kim chi, and some other stuff. ”

“Bring it on!”, Joseph said.

A few minutes later, the potstickers landed on the table and I heard Joseph swoon.

We had a good time. It’s nice to take a mini dining adventure now and again.

#211, Listen to a weekly podcast, 3/52

I listened to this podcast from last summer on Good Food, an awesome place I used to work. I was interested in hearing the segment about bourbon.

It’s always a pleasure to hear Evan Kleiman’s voice.

#127, Perform a Weekly Random Act of Kindness, 3/52

When I was at the Walt Disney Concert Hall this week, there was a lady on the tour that was from Canada. She didn’t have a car and was planning to walk a good distance to her next destination. I offered to give her a ride and she took me up on it.

#14, Watch one Annenberg Iris Series Lecture each week, 3/52

I listened to the lecture from Olivia Bee, a 21-year-old photographer who has been making pictures for a decade. I like this quote from her,

“Do what you love and do it till your whole body hurts. And as long as it isn’t killing people or something equally as horrible, you’ll do great. ”

#118, Try Bulletproof Coffee

I have been intrigued by the concept of Bulletproof Coffee for awhile now and have been eager to try it. If you don’t know about it, here’s an article that’ll tell you everything. Basically, it’s brewed coffee mixed with grass-fed butter and an energy supplement.

I went to the storefront in Santa Monica to try it.

I realized that I forgot to take a photo of the coffee while I was in the shop, so here’s a picture from my cupholder. It tastes a bit like a latte, but your lips get oily from the butter. I will say that I was hungry when I stopped, but only had time for a coffee because I was heading to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Once I finished the cup, I wasn’t hungry (despite missing breakfast) and didn’t think about food for another three hours.

I actually liked it and I think there may be something to the brain focus aspect. I’ll have to try it again to be sure.

#365, Do a Weekly Photo Shoot, 3/52

My photo shoot this week was during my duck hunting adventure. Here are two shots that didn’t make the blog post.

Okay, I missed an item this week which was to try a new recipe. That means two next week!

I have to catch up!

348 days to go!
