#330, Buy 12 new CDs, 3/12
If you polled women my age, I’d bet 99% of them like Adele.
Until now, I secretly tapped my foot when her songs came on the radio. I sang out loud to “Rolling in the Deep,” when no one was home. I even watched the video for “Hello” on the day it dropped. I discussed it with no one.
You see, I absolutely hate being predictable.
I am so much more pleased to reveal that I like gypsy music and Linkin Park. I like Dinah Washington and Luis Miguel. I like ZZ Topp and Indigo Girls and Drake. I like M. Ward and Patty Griffin.
Try to categorize me, and I’ll stubbornly dig out a genre you don’t expect me to enjoy.
Like Bluegrass. (Which I also like.)
Ha! I bet you didn’t see that one coming. (Don’t tell me if you did.)
So I cannot tell you how much it pains me to tell you that all the marketing people sitting around the conference table at Target headquarters have accurately predicted that I’d buy Adele’s new CD.
I’m now inhabiting the portion of the pie chart that also buys Frappuccinos and Dirt Devils.
But there it is.
Incidentally, if you missed Jame’s Corden’s carpool karaoke with Adele, here it is. So fun.
