#245, Cross a Border
Today I crossed the border on Flight AM 2201 to Hermosillo, Mexico to visit my mom, and her husband, Rich. They live about an hour and a half from the airport in the coastal town of San Carlos.
My flight was quick and painless, save for the Aeromexico agent who dropped a heavy panel on my bare foot as I was waiting in the security line. Though my foot bled, he pretended not to hear my exclamation of Ow!
Whatever, I thought. I’m in Mexico now.
I giggled thinking about this famous scene.
I was greeted with roses and big hugs. We jumped in the car and headed out.
As we arrived in San Carlos, we decided to stop and have a bite at JJ’s. As we entered the cantina, JJ told my mom and Rich, “I miss you. I miss your money!” We laughed.
He told us we could sit wherever we wanted. We chose a table under his gorgeous new palapa and started reading the menu.
He brought us Mexican beer and spicy popcorn while we decided what to eat.
We decided on tacos. Duh.
They were fantastico! By the next cerveza we were already repeating JJ’s famous motto,
It was a great first meal in Mexico. I was so happy to see my Mom. I think they were happy to see me too.
It’s going to be a great week.
244 days to go!
